Session # 5

GM’s note: As I write this there has been quite some time since we played these both sessions. Therefore it will be a bit less detailed and more compact then usual, this of course due to the fact that I can’t even remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

We are finally picking up the Campaign again, I hope you haven’t lost too much fate in us!

Drakwald Forest: (Drachenwald)

Our haggard but victorious group gets going along the road, only them and the remaining merchants cart. Inside this cart Emanuel finds a secret compartment in the floor that contains a jewel encrusted and very beautiful rapier, much to his and the groups (and their wallets) joy.

They travel a good while that day before one of them spots a shade next to a tree, someone is watching them. They stop and pull out their weapons, ready for whatever may come. They are a bit surprised as a lonely man steps out from the shadow of the trees; he is well dressed under a fine suit of chain mail and wears a heraldic shield, clearly a noble. He is armed and in a commanding tone he asks them who they are and hears out there story as he signals to the forest and several more men emerged, they all seem to be of noble birth and well equipped. Our group tells him the truth and are quite convincing, but he still asks them to hand over their weapons peacefully and let themselves be escorted to Pfeifeldorf where the towns Steward will hear their story for himself and decide what to do with them.

Pfeifeldorf:

They arrive at the town in the evening and are escorted to it’s garrison where the cart and horses are impounded and they are led upstairs in the building and shown into a office where, behind a massive pile of papers a tired looking Steward sits. He introduces himself as Zecharius Lauer and hears out the group, asking them much the same questions as the noble that led them here did, and as for him, the Steward informs them that they are the Blauesblud, a group of noblemen who are in the employ of Pfeifeldorf as their own town guard is presently low on men. When they ask about this he mutters about “That Crusade” and implies that it took many of his men with it as it passed by several days ago. He tells them that he will have to send pigeons to the temple of Sigmar in Marienburg to verify their story and in the meantime he can’t let them run loose, unless…

The Steward tells them they could be of assistance to him, and if they agree, he would look upon their own matter with a much kinder eye. When they ask what the matter is about, he simply says that a certain Frau Gertrudt has been the target of a theft. He is rather cryptic about just what has been stolen and tells them they better ask the Frau. When they don’t respond at once to this offer he mentions that the other alternative is a non-decided time in the stocks. The group agrees to take up on Lauer’s offer. With the group, the Steward sends a stiff, overbearing scribe, a dwarf named Dwali. Walter tries to be friendly with the dwarf, but he is rejected at every turn, he seems to not want friends. They head out at once, Torrendil and Emanuel heads to the Frau’s farm and Walter with Leticia heads to the local inn, The Wet Whistle for rooms and rumours.
The elf and bounty hunter meets the Frau, who proves to be a very formidable and capable woman and they find out that what has been stolen is one of her priced chickens, named Helga. Chagrined at this anti-climax they still treat the theft properly and searches the scene of the crime, finding a few bloodstains in the grass a few yards towards the neighbouring farm. A bit more searching turns up something else, a piece of cloth stuck to the fence of the farm, a purple fabric, with a coat of arms richly embroided on it. After this and a few ordinary questions to the Frau, they return to the Inn.

At The Wet Whistle our entertainer and initiate spent their time asking around a bit, mostly talking to a bretonnian lady who apparently is there studying imperial history. Leticia also talks with a armed man at the bar who doesn’t know much about the town, he’s a courier carrying a message through here to Marienburg, he flirts a bit with Leticia who follows up on it and she’s invited for a nightcap in the mans room.

They gather up in the Whistle, and talk through what they have found out. Inspecting the fabric they found only yields that it is very old, and expensive, as purple is one of the most expensive pigments to make. From the Innkeeper they also found out that one more animal seems to be missing, he used to have an old stray that he more or less to care off, but he hasn’t seen it for awhile.

They head up to their rooms, saying good night to Dwali, Letica though, heads for her new friends room for that night cap.

PLAYER SPOILER BELOW! (Don’t read if your one of my Players!)

She enters the room and the man sits there, clearly expecting her. After she closes the door behind her he tells Leticia that he has a message from the foster-father; that it is time to show her worth to Sigmar and his Empire. Show that she will do anything the Empire would ask of her. She agrees, though very surprised at getting a message from her foster-father. The man informs her that the bretonnian lady staying at this in is a political deviant, and for the sake of the small but growing relationship between the Empire and Bretonia she must be silenced.

Leticia knows what she must do, and sneaking down into the kitchen, she pawns two knives and head for the lady’s room. She deftly gets the door open and entering, she calms her nerves, steel’s hear heart and cut’s the woman’s throat. She leaves one knife in the wound, the other she lays on a table in the room and exits.

She returns to their room, though she sneaks inside Emanuel waked and hears her, but he chooses not to react visibly.

And so the night continues.
